Public health campaign: Time is Ticking

Time Is Ticking is a public-facing campaign from ID Alert about tick-borne disease, climate change, and the limits of how we currently communicate risk. Warming temperatures and shifting ecologies are expanding the range and seasonality of ticks across Europe while the public conversation struggles to keep up. Information exists and the science is constantly advancing, but this still so often fails to register as urgent and actionable by those with the highest tick risk.

This campaign approaches the problem through a lens of intrigue. Using large-format illustrated posters, Time Is Ticking frames tick-borne disease as part of a wider ecological web that connects human health, animal hosts, land use, and climate disruption, telling a story of “who did it” across the seven posters.

The campaign was piloted in the Barcelona area (in Spanish and Catalan) in January 2026, and will see a broader European roll out in Spring and Summer 2026. More here. All photographs below from Andrea Carilla.
